We introduced the Šantovka extension to the public. We will create a new modern neighborhood

The ambitious project to complete the Šantovka site was presented to the public by the development group REDSTONE in cooperation with Šantovka Holding. The project, which completes the area in the form of a new modern district Šantovka District and takes into account the latest trends of contemporary architecture and urban planning, was presented by British architect Robert Bishop from StudiON studio together with architect Martin Krupauer from A8000 studio. The founder of Redstone Group Richard Morávek expressed his belief that the new district will become the modern heart of Olomouc, a popular meeting place for Olomouc residents and an attractive destination for domestic and foreign visitors to the city. The investor wants to start construction next year. The development of the area of the former brownfield after the Milo chemical plant has started construction of a business and social center Gallery Šantovka, opened ten years ago. In parallel with the Šantovka Gallery, a new tram line to the Nové Sady housing estate was put into operation. On the peninsula between the Morava River and Mlýnský potok, the buildings of an exclusive residential project are growing rapidly Shantovka Living. Now comes the final stage of completing the territory. Opposite the existing business and social centre on the other bank of the Mlýnský brook, a number of new buildings and public spaces should be created, a welcoming urban space with a wide range of functions.“We are responding to the latest trends in the company. Customers change their preferences, behavior models, and value systems. The Covid pandemic has brought significant changes, and the functioning of the economy is also changing. We strive to take into account the high demands on the environmental dimension of the project”, explained at the introduction by architect Robert Bishop. In the past, retail projects, large monofunctional and monolithic buildings, were created on the peripheries of cities with an orientation towards automobile transport. “Our philosophy is to create places for people, pleasant urban environment with separate buildings, lively streets, squares. Urban space for all aspects of human life and contemporary lifestyle', Robert Bishop, winner of the UNESCO award for the Prado project in Marseille, added to the ideas of the project.“The river, which flows through the locality Šantovka, is an important part of the city, contributes to a pleasant climate, gives the opportunity for leisure activities as well as quiet sitting over coffee on the embankment. We want to create a vibrant waterfront that will lay the foundation for the future completion of a long corridor without barriers along the river, which will connect the center of Olomouc with the southern suburbs of the city,” added another important dimension of the project Martin Krupauer. The main feature of the project is its openness and airiness. The territory is connected to the Šantovka Gallery by footbridges over Mlýnský potok. The square, as a central public space, is complemented by a network of streets with a lively parterre. The open facades of the buildings invite you to the unique main covered street with the possibility of year-round operation regardless of the weather. “We will remove the barriers between the interior and the exterior and connect all indoor and outdoor activities on the principle of convergence,” summarized the philosophy of the project by Robert Bishop.Šantovka DistrictThe new part of the city is sensitively connected to the bed of the Mill Creek, on the banks of which it creates a lively embankment Shantovka Riverthat will give people access to water, a key element for a quality urban environment. A part will contribute to the expansion of the offer of quality gastronomy in Olomouc Foodie sandwich with stylish restaurants and pubs. The central public space of the new district will be the square Shantovka Amphitheaterthat will allow the organization of various events throughout the year (concerts, public skating, street food, fresh market). Shantovka Mall will expand the range of shops and services in the territory with additional attractive units. The cultural and social dimension of the project is brought by the object Shantovka Hall, a multifunctional hall inspired by the Prague project Forum Karlín, which will offer spaces for theatre, musicals, concerts, conferences, exhibitions and social events. Lots of fun and activities will provide Shantovka Play, a leisure zone for all ages with a number of attractions (climbing walls, trampoline area, etc.). The destination dimension of the location will be underlined by the four-star hotel chain AC Hotels by Marriott. Part of the project is the residential part Šantovka Apartments and premises for offices, business and educational activities Šantovka Workcenter. The landmark of the site will become a high-rise building Šantovka Tower, which at its peak will offer the public a unique viewpoint on the skyline of the historic center of Olomouc.“Thank you to all colleagues and collaborators from our team for their great cooperation in creating the vision for the new urban district. Now we have another task; to turn the dream of the modern heart of Olomouc into reality. We would like to start construction in 2024. I believe that already in 2026 we will be able to invite Olomouc residents and visitors to the city in a new beautiful and attractive environment,” Richard Morávek, founder of the Redstone Group, closed the press conference.
