(Olomouc, 12.2.2024) In the vicinity of the Sokol sports complex, not far from the main campus of Palacký University and at the same time within easy reach of the historical center of Olomouc and the city parks, a project of modern student dormitories will be created according to the proposal of the Perspective studio. The Redstone Group, inspired by student accommodation in the UK (Oxford, Cambridge) and Germany, is behind the project. Future residents will be offered to live in a quiet environment full of greenery with a walk-through courtyard and a capacity underground car park, on the ground floor of the buildings there will be all the necessary services such as study rooms, library, community and cultural spaces or fitness. The project will strengthen the prestige of Olomouc as a university city.
“Palacký University is among the 3 most prestigious Czech universities and among the 1000 best in the world. There are many renowned scientists and excellent students from the Czech Republic and abroad, for whom it is important that they find quality facilities for accommodation in the city. Every year, a large number of international exchange stays take place in Olomouc within the framework of the Erasmus programme and various scientific internships. Therefore, we think that our student dormitory project goes against the demand, as it will offer quality housing in a perfect location with a wide range of uses and services. Increasing the capacity of student rooms is a logical step in response to the limited supply,” says Redstone Group spokesman Petr Hlávka.
“In the design of the buildings, we emphasized the connection of modern architecture with local history through elements of baroque fortification in the area. The dynamic of the buildings is given by spacious balconies, which naturally connect the interior with the exterior and offer residents increased comfortmfort. Brick cladding underlines not only the authenticity of the buildings, but also the individuality and character,“describes architect Ján Antal from Perspektive Studio.
It will be a permeable area with a modern eco-friendly student campus, which will benefit the city in terms of urban planning as well. Naturally, it connects to the city boulevard. The developer has recently fine-tuned the technical parameters of the project, the project documentation will be discussed in the coming months.
